Benefit Information

Eligible employees at Hamilton Center, Inc. (HCI), enjoy a benefits package that offers many options. A full-time regular employee is eligible for group health, life, vision, and dental insurance. A part-time (20-29 hrs./wk.) regular employee is eligible for health insurance. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month after completion of 30 days of continuous employment. Competitive rates with HCI paying the majority of the premiums. 

High Deductible Health Plan: HCI’s medical insurance offers broad comprehensive coverage for you and your eligible dependents. All medical claims are applied to the deductible and once your deductible has been met, in network medical claims are paid at 100%. In network preventative care claims are paid in full prior to meeting the deductible. Both medical claims and prescription medications count towards the deductible.  

Health Savings Account (HSA): Staff who elect medical coverage are eligible for an HCI contribution into their HSA in the amount of $25/individual or $50/family twice a month. Employees can also choose to contribute tax free. HSA funds may only be used for approved medical expenses. 

Basic Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance: Employer paid term life policy paid for by HCI worth two times the employee’s annual salary. 

Supplemental Life Insurance: : In addition to the basic AD&D insurance, staff may purchase additional term life coverage for themselves. The cost is based on age and desired amount of coverage.  

Dependent Life Insurance: The employee may purchase term life insurance to cover the employee’s spouse and/or dependents. The cost is based on age and desired amount of coverage. 

Vision/Dental Insurance: Staff may purchase vision and/or dental insurance to cover themselves and dependents. Competitive rates with HCI paying the majority. 

Short-term Disability Insurance: Short-term disability is payable on the 46th day of a non-occupational continuous absence after 90-days of employment. HCI provides this benefit at no cost to the employee. 

Long-term Disability Insurance: Long-term disability is payable on the 91st day of a non-occupational non-pre-existing extended illness. HCI provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.  

Other insurance: HCI makes available income protection benefits at a group rate at the sole expense of the employee. They include Voluntary Short-term Disability (payable on the 8th day of a continuous absence), Accident, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness plans.  

Taxation impact: HCI has a flexible benefits plan that allows an eligible employee to pay the employee’s proportionate share of the cost of insurance premiums, unreimbursed medical expenses, and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. The dollars the employee spends for these expenses are not subject to federal, state, local or Social Security taxes.  

Paid holidays: HCI observes 10 paid holidays per year – New Year’s Day, International Women’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independents Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. (For International Women’s Day and Juneteenth, employees are required to report to work from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. for a program. At the end of the program, all non-24-hour staff will be excused for the remainder of the day.) 

Retirement Plan: After an employee, age 21 and older, satisfies the requirements of one (1) year of employment with a minimum of 1,000 hours of service, HCI will contribute five percent (5%) of an employee’s gross earnings to the 401k plan. In addition to the 5%, HCI will also match the employees’ own contributions up to 2% of their earnings. 

Paid Time-Off (PTO): PTO combines traditional vacation, personal, and sick leave into one plan to provide eligible employees flexibility of time off. The amount of PTO that accrues each pay period is based on the employee’s number of years of service and job classification. This time may be used, cashed out, gifted to a fellow employee, or rolled over to the next year (limits or restrictions may apply). 

Tuition assistance: Regular, full-time employees are eligible to be reimbursed up to $750 per semester ($11,400 lifetime) of the tuition costs of approved courses taken at approved institutions. 

Conferences/seminars: Job related conferences and seminars are 100% paid for by HCI to assist in obtaining Continuing Educational Units (CEUs). 

Clinical supervision: For those clinical employees looking to become licensed as an LCSW, LMFT, LMHC or HSPP the HCI provides supervised clinical hours of training and reimburses a one-time $500 payment for taking the license exam. 

Employee Assistance Program: Work Life Matters is your confidential employee assistance program that offers support and guidance to all members of your household. Professional counselors are available 24 hours a day to assist you with family and personal issues you might be facing or questions you might have at no cost to the employee. 

Employee Engagement Events: Several special events throughout the year highlight and, recognize our employees, and enable us to benefit our consumers and community members. Among these events are the Employee Kickoff in July, where all staff gathers for breakfast, fellowship, and generous giveaways to celebrate the new fiscal year; the “We Live” community celebration in July, where we distribute hundreds of backpacks and school supplies and provide other support and activities to kids and families who are traditionally underserved and need some assistance; the “Diversity Walk” in August, an event sponsored by HCI where thousands of people gather to support diversity and inclusion (an important value at HCI); and the Hamilton Awards Dinner in October, a free event for employees that awards and celebrates people in the community who support Hamilton Center’s mission. Lastly, Hamilton Center sponsors numerous events in central and west central Indiana where employees take part in supporting the community.
