Second Project Search Class Honored During June 1st Ceremony

Twelve high school students will successfully complete the second class of Project SEARCH with graduation ceremonies schedule for the evening of June 1. The event will be held at the Landsbaum Center at 6:00 pm.

Project SEARCH is a program of Employment Solutions and is a pilot for Vocational Rehabilitation Services for the State of Indiana. Union Hospital is the business partner. Project Search is currently recruiting students for next year's class.

Several dignitaries are scheduled to be on hand to extend their congratulations and best wishes to the students. The local Project Search Class of 2010 will receive a national award in Minneapolis later this month for the successful placement of all eight students who completed the program last year. Project Search Union Hospital, is the first pilot program in Indiana to successfully accommodate two students in wheel-chairs. One of the students is a war refugee and English is his second language.

Employment Solutions—the Employment component of Spectrum Services and Hamilton Center Inc. was selected to implement Project SEARCH as one of five pilot programs in the State back in 2008. Founded at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio, Project SEARCH offers young adults with significant disabilities a series of internships that provide employment and education opportunities. The program has been successfully replicated across the country and is dedicated to workforce development that benefits the individual, community and workplace.
