Summary of Experience
Melissa has been in the "helping profession" for nearly 20 years. Prior to her professional career, she was an active volunteer in her community. She began her career as a Family Specialist providing education, mentoring and supervision of families involved in the Foster Care systems in the state of Indiana. While serving in this capacity Melissa saw many successes with the families and children. This inspired her to pursue higher education in the social work field.

Melissa still sees her greatest accomplishments in her personal life; she has been happily married to her husband, Dane for over 35 years. She is the mother of three and the grandmother of seven and counting, grandchildren. At her local church she serves as Worship Leader, Director of Christian Education, and is the secretary of the official board of administration.

Melissa's professional career has taken her from educational social work, hospital discharge planning, employment counseling and community-based case management. She has worked in program development as an employment counselor and as a community based case manager.

Since obtaining her LCSW, she has been working in rural communities as a mental health therapist. Melissa has had successes as a therapist working with individuals facing severe emotional issues such as Major Depression, Substance Abuse issues, Personality disorders, Family problems, Anxiety and PTSD. She identifies strengths in working with Crisis interventions and clinical assessments. Melissa is a National Health Service Corp. (NHSC) scholar and in presently serving in Sullivan Co., Indiana.
