Christina Redden, MA, Therapist

Child and Adolescent Services/ASAP Program

Christina has been in the counseling field for approximately seventeen years and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. She has a Master's degree in counseling. Her clinical focus is on child, adolescent, and adult populations with mental health and substance abuse issues. She has been involved in familial research using the CBT method with parenting at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and Chicago. Her therapeutic approach is multi faceted and person centered. She attributes this to her training in Multi Systemic Therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina where she was taught the importance of the community and ecology of the child in providing effective treatment. Her teachers and mentors over the years have had a profound effect on her as a clinician. Dr. Eva Dreikurs and Dr. Russell Barkley have been imperative in helping Christina develop her approach to treating children and families. She recalls the words of Dr. Rudolph Dreikurs, "Children need encouragement like a plant needs water." These words have followed her throughout her clinical career. She feels fortunate to be a part of CAS/ASAP and looks forward to the next chapter in her clinical experience.
