Satellite Director - South

Division: Clinical Services – Satellite South
Supervised By: Executive Director of Clinical Services
FLSA Status: Exempt/Regular/Full-time

Position Summary

Oversees all regional activities assuring quality clinical services, staffing, budgets and achievement of fiscal goals. Participates in the general operation and activities of the Center as a whole.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of regional budgets, making decisions relative to allocation of resources, income estimates, etc. and monitor income/expenditures to remain in line with budget
  • Maximize regional income sources for services by writing grants and assuring clinical compliance
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff, both direct and indirect, to include making independent decisions on situations that pose risk of harm to patients or to others, or potential for malpractice/negligence suits
  • Assure compliance with regulations/guidelines of accrediting/regulatory bodies related to the provision of quality clinical care and participate in continuous quality improvement activities to include chart review, client satisfaction and aspect of care indicators
  • Write and revise policies and procedures related to clinical care
  • Participate and assume leadership, as appropriate, in various center and board of directors meetings to include reports to the board, input on staff development needs; establish committees as needed and assign staff to committees
  • Meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision
  • Develop regional long-term goals, plan programs and incorporate in annual goals and objectives for the division in line with center-wide goals and objective; monitor progress and report on same
  • Meet with staff, in specified regional area, for the purpose of administrative supervision, disseminating information, receiving feedback
  • Coordinate division-wide activities with other divisions
  • Maintain excellent customer service in your regional and actively seek out ways to improve relationships with referral sources and external customers
  • Provide in-service training and participate in continuing education activities; acquire and maintain knowledge of federal, state and accrediting bodies’ regulations/guidelines for provision of services, reimbursement, etc.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, marketing of services, development of consultation and education contracts
  • Recommend regional staff hiring, promotion; pay adjustments, dismissals, etc., division-wide, assuring compliance with center procedures and external regulatory agencies
  • Complete performance appraisals on immediate supervisees and review/approve appraisals on immediate supervisees and review/approve appraisals for all other division staff
  • Represent the agency with external agencies, media, referral sources, consumers, state representatives, surveyors, professional colleagues, vendors, and general public for the purpose of public relations, fund-raising, conflict resolution, dissemination of information, training, budget requests, program planning and marketing through public speaking/interviews, written articles/reports, meeting attendance, participation on committees/boards, clinical consultation, etc. reflecting a high degree of professionalism and ethical conduct.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position directly supervises the Managers of Addictions, Sullivan, Owen, Greene and Clay satellites. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Hamilton Center’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D. from accredited graduate program in professional psychology plus full-time one year internship in a mental health setting that meets APA guidelines. OR
    MS/MA/MSW from an accredited program. License eligible.
  • Five years experience in mental health services and two years of which is at an administrative level.
  • Acceptable knowledge of state, federal and accrediting bodies regulations regarding provision of services, documentation, reimbursement and income resources with ability to become fully knowledgeable within six months of employment.
  • Certifications, professional memberships or documented training and experience in a variety of clinical specialty areas.
  • Exceptional written and oral (including public speaking) skills.
  • Skills in gathering, analyzing and interpreting date, problem-solving and hypothetical-deductive reasoning.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with flexibility and ability to manage a high level of extremely varied tasks on a daily basis.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills with flexibility and ability to manage conflict effectively and motivate staff.
  • Knowledge of personnel management, fiscal management and facility management.
  • Willingness to use personal transportation in work capacity.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license in according with HCI motor vehicle policy.
  • Completes Hoosier Assurance Plan (HAP) training as required and passes all vignettes.
  • Completes all Hoosier Assurance Plan (HAP) assessments and paperwork as required.
  • CADAC-level ICAADA certification or NCACII certification or eligible for NCACII preferred.
  • Completion of HAPI-A / HAPI-C training and vignettes within 6 months of employment.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee may be required to climb and/or lift.

Work Environment

The outreach offices are located away from the Main Center, leaving safety considerations and crisis control the responsibility of staff. Work is normally performed in a comfortable physical environment under intense mental demands and emotional stress involving working with people who are often distraught and unpredictable, requiring decisions relative to dangerousness, suicide potential, competency, reality contact, etc.

Conditions of Employment

  • Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first day of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
  • Completion of Center-wide orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work
  • Demonstrated computer literacy through successful completion of pre-employment testing may be required.
  • Completion of Total Quality Management training
  • Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training
  • Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period
  • Participation in payroll electronic deposit
  • Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
  • Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks.
  • Satisfactory completion of an Indiana Department of Child Services criminal fingerprinting background check at the time of hire and every four years (or at contract renewal when applicable) for any employee that has direct contact on a regular and continuing basis with DCS and IVB clients.
