Clinical Therapist

As directed and
within the scope of expertise and the limits of credentials, a clinical
therapist conducts assessments and evaluations; provides therapy and other
direct treatment services; assists in the development of Individual Treatment
Plans; provides consultation, training, and problem-solving assistance;
and directly intervenes in crisis situations.
| Essential Duties/Responsibilities |
To perform this
job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential

- As directed and
within the scope of expertise and the limits of credentials, evaluates
and assesses consumers then analyzes information to determine level
of functioning and identifies treatment needs. As a member of a treatment
team, formulates Individual Treatment Plan goal statements, objectives,
and interventions.
- As directed and
within the scope of expertise and the limits of credentials, provides
individual, group, and/or family therapy and other direct treatment
services.
- Participates
in an on-call rotation to advise and assist other staff during difficult
or crisis situations. Also, may need to respond to crisis calls directly
from consumers.
- Serves as a resource
person to the Center by: consulting, problem-solving, speaking, training
others, and developing materials to help others.
- Maintains client
and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
Prepares documents within acceptable time-lines as well as standards
of length, accuracy, thoroughness, and language usage.
- Interacts with
clients in a therapeutic and responsible manner. Interactions with participants
must be: individualized, positive, age-appropriate, reciprocal, constructive,
non-authoritarian, and non-confrontive.
- Maintains a high
level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, relationships, and
associations with participants.
- Interacts appropriately
with all visitors, family members, and other service providers.
- Conducts all
events, activities, and trips in a safe, yet therapeutic manner, and
employs effective measures regarding risk management, emergency procedures,
and non-violent crisis intervention.
- Participates
in continuing education activities to maintain knowledge and skills
in areas related to mental health treatment.
- Attends and participates
fully in meetings as assigned and meets regularly with supervisor to
exchange pertinent information and receive supervision.
- Completes tasks
such as assisting with quality assurance activities, record keeping,
report writing, logging and completing forms.
- Transports participants
safely and effectively either by driving Center-owned vehicles or by
using own vehicles.
- Performs other
duties as assigned.
| Minimum Qualifications/Requirements |
- Master’s
degree completed in an area of mental health.
- Must be license
eligible as a LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT.
- Must have advanced
knowledge and skills in the provision of community-based behavioral
health care and/or mental health treatment.
- Agreement to
use personal transportation in work capacity.

- Valid Indiana
driver’s license.
- Current CPR certification.
(Re-certification annually)
- Current First
Aid certification. (Re-certification every 3 years)
- Current CPI certification.
(Re-certification annually)
- Obtain and maintain
certification as a HAP-I assessor.
- Obtain and maintain
appropriate licensure as a mental health provider.

While performing
the essential duties of this job, the employee may be required to climb
and/or lift.
Most of the work
of the clinical therapists is done directly with consumers, either in
their homes or in community settings with limited on-site supervision.
Office and program areas may not be air conditioned and could become overly
warm in summer months. Many activities are conducted in community settings
away from Hamilton Center, Inc. premises. Work conditions, such as cleanliness,
comfort and safety, may vary widely. Exposure to all types of weather
elements is likely. Staff may be scheduled to work evenings and/or weekends.
Smoking is permitted only outside the program sites. Safety management
and crisis intervention decisions and actions are dependent on staff present.
A crisis could arise which may be stress producing and/or exhausting.
- Completion of
tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first day of
employment and annually thereafter
- Completion of
a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug
or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
- Completion of
Center-wide orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting
for work
- Demonstrated
computer literacy through successful completion of pre-employment testing
may be required.
- Completion of
Total Quality Management training
- Attendance at
all mandatory staff development and training
- Successful completion
of a six month on the job orientation period
- Participation
in payroll electronic deposit
- Adherence to
Compliance Program Plan
- Satisfactory
reference and background investigation checks.
Satisfactory completion of an Indiana Department of Child Services criminal
fingerprinting background check at the time of hire and every four years
(or at contract renewal when applicable) for any employee that has direct
contact on a regular and continuing basis with DCS and IVB clients
