Employment Specialist - ACT

Develop, train and maintain competitive employment opportunities in business and industry. Serve as program/services manager for persons employed in the community. Interact with employers in business settings and coordinate services for the consumer with Vocational Rehabilitation and other human service agencies.
| Essential Duties/Responsibilities |

- Serve as an advocate for the consumer; providing the opportunity, training and support needed to enable the individual to make and implement informed choices about employment services.
- Participate with team on the development of the individualized treatment plan.
- Schedule and facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings including annual conference, progress reviews and special conferences as needed. Review and modify plans as necessary.
- Assist persons with disabilities in obtaining appropriate competitive employment, ensuring job match consistent with individual goals. Establish and maintain effective community employment contracts and sites working closely with local employers to develop job opportunities.
- Learn the duties of the selected jobs sufficiently in order to provide the level, intensity and duration of job skill training needed by the consumer to maintain employment.
- Provide on-going follow-up and support services to the consumer services to the consumer to assist them in adjusting to and maintaining their employment. Assist individuals in accessing other community resources.
- Provide information to community at large, social service agencies and other human service providers regarding the goals and purposes of Employment Services. Coordinate and work closely with consumer, families, friends, Vocational Rehabilitation and other human service agencies in order to provide quality employment services.
- Prepare and maintain current and accurate billing and service records, reports, correspondence and other program documents.
- Conduct Job Readiness Training, Job Seeking Skills, and Job Club as scheduled.
- Work flexible schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision and maintain active relationship with Employment Solutions.
- Participate in meetings, in-services, projects and activities as assigned.
- Coordinates quarterly reviews of treatment plan with team and consumer to ensure all services that are provided are appropriate.
- Participate as active member of treatment team by working with consumers in non-traditional ways to build rapport and increase likelihood of consumer seeking employment.
- Works in consultation with Employment Solutions Program Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
| Minimum Qualifications/Requirements |
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, education, mental health or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with individuals who have been diagnosed with SPMI.
- Certification as Employment Training Specialist preferred.
- Good written and oral communication skills, English usage and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to use personal transportation in work capacity and transport clients.
- Flexible schedule to meet client needs including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize electronic medical record system.

- Valid driver’s license in accordance with motor vehicle policy
- Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention certification.
- Maintain American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification

- Able to see, hear, bend, stoop, lift or carry 20-50 pounds.
Work is performed in community and home sites and in the office. Stress can result from conflicting priorities, limited back-up coverage and having to work flexible schedule.
- Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to the first day of employment and annually thereafter.
- Completion of pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
- Completion of center-wide orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work.
- Completion of HCI’s Commitment to Quality Training
- Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training.
- Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period.
- Participation in payroll electronic deposit.
- Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
- Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks.
- Satisfactory completion of an Indiana Department of Child Services criminal fingerprinting background check at the time of hire and every four years (or at contract renewal when applicable) for any employee that has direct contact on a regular and continuing basis with DCS and IVB clients
