Information Technology Supervisor

Division: Administrative Services

FLSA Status: Exempt/Regular/Full-time

Position Summary

Position requires the individual to be able to work independently with little supervision, capable of making spontaneous decisions about daily operation of the department. Must be able to manage multiple tasks at any time. Excellent skills required to track budget information, balance expenses and manage IT staff. Employee is responsible for the computer networking, Microsoft operating systems, and telecommunications in a multi-location LAN/WAN environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervise Systems Administrator, Help Desk Coordinator, and I.S. Specialist staff.
  • Provide day-to-day management of Information Technology department operations which include networking, operating systems, telecommunications, PCs, file servers, and related software.
  • Implement the Information Systems Strategic Plan created by the Director of Information Systems.
  • Implement and enforce Information Systems policies and procedures.
  • Provide problem-solving and crisis intervention services as needed; establishes methods to eliminate or minimize potential for errors.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality and assures proper system security.
  • Provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to Center managers in matters related to the Information Technology department.
  • Maintain systems and network efficiency, and oversee system design/enhancement.
  • Responsible for software licensing compliance.
  • Participate in Administrative Service Division and QLF meetings.
  • Monitor and report progress in meeting goals and objectives; improve technology-related processes and procedures.
  • Meet with Director of Information Systems for supervision and exchange of pertinent information.
  • Develop and submit an annual budget to Information SystemsDirector. Must manage and maintain budget for each fiscal year.
  • Participate in special projects or activities as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises the Information Systems Specialist, Help Desk Coordinator, and the Systems Administrator positions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Hamilton Center’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Business Management, or related field.
  • Three (3) years work experience in a LAN/WAN computing environment.
  • Knowledge and/or skills in Microsoft operating systems and applications. Cisco networking equipment, and telecommunications preferred.
  • Written and oral communication, various aspects of Information Systems development and management, goals and objectives development.
  • Willingness to travel and use personal transportation in work capacity.
  • Must have a customer service mindset.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with HCI motor vehicle policy.

Work Environment

Position requires multiple job skills and creates a high level of stress due to the demands for assistance. Planning is difficult, due to the nature of the emergencies that can happen. Fluctuations in funding and changes in procedures by outside organization create an ever-changing environment. Usually there is not enough time available to perform adequate analysis of problems. Errors in judgment can have a dramatic effect on programs staff, consumers, and referral agencies.

Conditions of Employment

  • Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first day of employment and annually thereafter
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
  • Completion of Center-wide orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work
  • Demonstrated computer literacy through successful completion of pre-employment testing may be required.
  • Completion of Total Quality Management training
  • Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training
  • Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period
  • Participation in payroll electronic deposit
  • Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
  • Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks.
